Ramblings From Work…

Well, I’m just over 3/4 of the way through my shift, and came up with something while I was on my last patrol…

You know one thing I’d really like for Christmas? A pair of good quality, well-fitting boots, with – as always – low heels (whoever invented high heels had to have either been male or a sadist; luckily, with my height, I don’t need them – not that I’d ever wear them even if I did ‘need’ them…), and going up to just below the knee. Ones that actually look nice as well.

Of course, the problem is always trying to find a pair that would actually fit me…

Oh, and from my earlier exterior patrol: slipping on snow/mud combinations, and landing on said combinations, still hurts. And not only is it wet, it’s also dirty. Not exactly what I’d consider ‘fun’…

But all in all, it’s been a pleasant day so far. Between my Kris Kringle partner and my supervisor (which was a surprise – we were only expecting her to get a gift for the colleague she’d picked in the Kris Kringle), I now have $35 worth of gift certificates for HMV. I think I know exactly what they’re going to help pay for…

  1. Here here for the heels. -_-; Not being what you’d call the most graceful person at the best of times, sticking me in a pair of high heels has drastic detrimental effects on my equilibrium. @.@

    I’m not exactly vertically challenged…but I don’t have a lot to spare either…so I’m kind of caught between wanting to be a little taller, and wanting to remain firmly on my feet. I compromise…when it’s nice and dry outside, I’ll maybe wear heels (as long as they aren’t too high…more than an inch and a half and I feel like I’m a circus clown trying walk on stilts) and when there’s ice I’m firmly attached to the ground in flats.

    And I agree…the styles of shoes are the next best thing to sadomasochistic implements designed to torture the wearer into submission. I mean…have you ever seen a natrually formed foot with toes forming into points like some of the “modern” shoes? o.O Eeesh…a lot of ’em look like what I’d choose for a Halloween costume…if I were dressing up as an 18th century witch. -_-;

    Anyhoo…hope the holiday season is going well for you…over here I’ve finally attained my usual “Bah Humbug” attitude thanks to a wonderfully rude shopper that shoved me out of the way so she could get to the counter first. >.< Nearly fell flat on my face. If I wasn't such a wimp, I would've shoved right back...but, alas...I'm a wimp. -_-;

    Take care!

  2. First of all, it’s nice to hear from you…

    And yeah, shoes for women… *sigh* I have enough problems with my feet without trying to squish them into shoes with too-narrow toes. Painful! One of my main objections to high heels, in fact, is the damage they do to one’s toes.

    In terms of height… well, considering that I’m between about 6′ and 6’1″ (closer to the latter), as you can tell, I definitely don’t need the extra height. In fact, considering how self-conscious this little fact made me throughout high school (where I towered over a few of my teachers), it was another major reason to dislike heels.

    As for the holiday season… yeah, it is going well. I’m working throughout most of it (including XMas Day, since it’s a Saturday this month…), but I’ll be getting paid commensurate with the work, which will definitely help out in the New Year. And the only present I haven’t got is the one for my father, and who knows if he’ll even give me any indication of what he wants? (*sigh*) So all in all, I’m actually quite pleased.

    Anyway, got to run off to work… Chat to you later!

Please, feel free to comment!
