#CampNaNoWriMo April 2015: Not A Winner….

So. It seems this was not a good month for writing for me. My concentration has been shot most of the month, and I’ve written less than 4,000 words of There Be Dragons. Definitely not enough to win, even when I lowered my word count goal to 20K words.

On the other hand, I always count any writing done during NaNo or Camp NaNo as at least a partial success. As is often mentioned at the end of the month, at least there’s however many words more written than you had at the start of the month!

Not sure exactly what I’m going to do with There Be Dragons at the moment; I suspect that at the very least, I’m going to let it sleep for a few weeks while I try to get rid of the brain fog I’ve been in most of the month. With any luck, May will be better – I’ll likely be at least somewhat more active, for one thing, now that the weather is finally starting to warm up here. (Not that you’d know it from the drizzle and wind today, but….)

If nothing else, I suspect I’ll get back to work on TBD for July’s CampNaNo. 馃檪

#NaNoWriMo 2014: Day 30 – The End

So, we come to end of NaNoWriMo 2014. I stand in the winner’s circle, proud, despite the adversity I encountered this month (for more info, read the post about my winning and last night’s post). And I have successfully managed to reach my altered goal of 60K words; in fact, my final word count is 61,232 words.

And boy, are the Plot Bunnies ever happy. They’ve been crazy all day – I think someone fed them caffeine adulterated with pounds of sugar. They’ve been hopping all over the place, particularly toward my other Sekirei fics and the SF Original Fic version of Here Be Dragons. *sighs*

Anyway, this month has been a good run, and I’m glad I did it. Here’s to all of us NaNoers, whether we got 50K or 5K – we did it! There are now more stories out there than there were at the beginning of the month. So “Yay Us!”

Now, back to your regularly scheduled erratic updates….

‘Later, all!

#NaNoWriMo 2014: T -6 Hours & Counting

So, we are now at T -6 hours and counting (as mentioned in the title). The Bunnies are hopping excitedly, the cat (Imber) is purring and not wanting to share my lap – or my hands – with a keyboard, and everything’s all ready for NaNoWriMo 2014 to start.

Oh, and it’s Halloween. Happy Spooky Day to all those with little goblins, ghosties, or ghoulies of their own! (Including my sister and brother….)

So I’m at my parents’ house for the weekend (as usual) and raring to go. And while waiting for midnight to hit (at which point I’ll probably be chatting to Vathara), I’m reviewing the fic that I won’t be touching during the month, and distributing candy to those few goblins, ghosties, and ghoulies who come to our door. (We don’t tend to get many trick-or-treaters here.) And petting the dog, and keeping my cat happy and contented and purring.

Expect my next post tomorrow evening, with a word count and status report of the first day of writing!

‘Later, all!

#CampNaNoWriMo July 2014: The Fanfic That Ate My Brain

Well, it’s been a while. Haven’t meant to be absent from this blog for so long (again), but between the heat that has been hitting St. John’s (see all my previous complaints and rants about my allergy to heat) and getting caught up in the subject of this post, I’ve been more than a little bit distracted.

First of all, don’t know if I mentioned it or not, but I didn’t win April’s Camp NaNoWriMo. *shrugs* Again, various things happened, and Real Life interfered. Didn’t help that we were dealing with my housemates leaving, and two new housemates coming in (whom I admit I get along better with!). But, I did get some writing on It Came From the Library done, and I was determined to do better with this month’s Camp.

The story I chose to work on for this month was an original fic (naturally) called alternatively Seal Song or Selkie Maiden, based on the song “The Maiden and the Selkie” by Heather Dale. I’d already written the prologue, but figured it was easy enough to just remove that from the word count; and I knew how I wanted the first chapter to start out.

Well, I got off to a slow start – didn’t even start writing until July 7th, and ended up not writing anything July 9th and 10th due to horrendous headache attacking me out of nowhere the evening of July 8th.

Meanwhile, Vathara has been working on a Sekirei fanfic, and she was tossing lots of bio stuff and ideas with me, and while I was sick with the headache, she suggested that I read the manga. Heh. I’d already been intrigued by her descriptions of the character Kagari/Homura, especially the gender issues he experiences over the course of the series, and the manga just increased my fascination with him. So, the night of Friday July 11th, what should I end up doing but starting a Sekirei fic?

As the title of this post implies, that fic – titled “Fire and Flight” – rapidly began eating my brain. By (Thursday) July 17th, I’d already managed to write over 25,000 words, and brought my word count goal for the Camp back up to 50K words. And this past Wednesday (the 23rd) I reached 50,455 words just before midnight.

So, for the first time since I started doing the Camp, I am a Camp NaNoWriMo winner! Yay me! 馃檪

If you want to read a few more details about Sekirei and FaF, read on!

NaNoWriMo 2013: Ready, Set, Start!

Well, it’s now the first of November. Meaning we are into NaNoWriMo! Yay!

Turns out, I’m not just doing The Trickster’s Trade (though don’t worry, Dad, Mayumi and Darrel are still the priority); I’m also doing a second novel that I’ve been meaning to get more written of for several years now, currently called The Pack. So my personal goal for this November will be to get 100K words – 50K for each of them. (Winning NaNo will be good. Getting to my personal goal – which I’ve accomplished 2 out of the 3 years I’ve won, in terms of word count, will be even better. Actually finishing both books will be a delight! ;))

As mentioned above, TTT has priority, meaning I’ll work on that first each day. (Today, I’ve written 1,904 words on it so far – more than the daily goal – yay me!) Once I’ve got at least the daily goal met, I’ll also work on The Pack, which has been stalled on v7.0, beginning of Chp. 3, for several years now (even longer than TTT, which I got some writing done on a couple of years ago). Both are stories that I really want to tell, and really want to get finished, so NaNo is, of course, the perfect time to work on them.

(No fanfiction words will be counted for NaNo, even if I also write some fanfic – Sanzo presented me with the summary and an image from “Summer’s Pleasure”, the second in my Saiyuki Seasons series [Pt. 1, “Winter’s Treasure”, has 4-1/2 of 7 parts written thus far] last night just before I fell asleep. How do you throttle a character in your head?)

Anyway, that’s the report from the start of NaNoWriMo 2013. Enjoy, all!

[Edit: 23:56 hrs.] Got 364 words written on TP, so that’s a total of 2268 for me today. Yay me! 1.36 times the daily goal! [/End Edit]

Fanfiction Cover Images

So, I mentioned in my last post that I’d put my fanfiction stories up on Archive of Our Own. What I didn’t know until after I’d put my fics up there was that AO3 lets you download fics as ebooks (in epub or mobi formats, no less!). And, hey, I like reading my fics as ebooks. So, rather than having to go through converting them over to that format through iWork’s Pages, I simply downloaded some of my favourite completed ones directly from AO3 in epub format.

Then I thought, Hey, I’ve got a cover pic for Something to Live For already, since I translated it to epub way back… but not for any of the others. So my next decision on what to do was easy – I created covers!

The covers are in gallery format below. And I plan to upload the epubs I’ve got to tag’s Library and Bardd’s Tales to make them available to others to download… sometime. Not immediately, but hopefully not too far in the future.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’m going to go start uploading those particular stories to WattPad as well….

General Update; and AO3

Been a while, huh? Well, couple of things to update.

First of all, unfortunately, didn’t complete Camp NNWM in July, either; ended up getting sick (again) and couldn’t focus. The fact that it was hot out (see my rant about heat and thermoregulation on my Other Blog) didn’t help in the least. I did get a bit more written, but not much. Oh well, it’s still an improvement over what I had at the beginning of the month.

Have spent the last two months mostly suffering from the heat, unfortunately, but things are getting a bit better (it’s been cooling down a bit). I’m kind of hoping it will stay at the mild temperatures for the next couple of months; that would be good!

Have started getting a bit of exercise; using Mom’s treadmill for 20 minutes three times a week (I’m up to covering a mile). That should help somewhat with the depression.

And I now have my fanfics available on Archive of Our Own (as well as fanfiction.net)! So if anyone doesn’t care to use FFNet, then I now have them available for you to look at on AO3! The link (aside from being in the first sentence of this paragraph) is also on my link page.

Welcome: New Blog Site

First of all, welcome, everyone, to the new site for tag’s Haven. I’d like to thank you all for following me here. Please, feel free to subscribe to my posts – the link is in the sidebar, just under my recent posts.

For those who are new and have followed a link here, Be Welcome! This is the blog where I talk about my life in general, moan and vent about the weather, and pre-publish my fanfic to get comments on it in order to improve it further before it goes to FFNet and tag’s Library for the wide world to see. 馃槈 (If you want to see the fanfic I’ve put up, links to all of it are available through the Fanfic page, as well as a bit of a summary.)

Over the next little while I’m going to be wandering around the ‘Net, changing the URLs of my blog everywhere I’ve put it up. But there is news, for anyone interested… see below. (Also, question re fic. Sorry, RK fans, not quite ready for updates yet, but have been reviewing and doing a bit more writing….)

Continue for more about me, my family, and fic….

Health Situation: Sigh of Relief (& Gen. Update)

Well, things are finally at a partially settled state regarding my health (ref: Major Update from August). We’ve got a diagnosis (accuracy somewhat uncertain), and I’ve found out today that I am receiving Long-Term Disability (something which has kept me on financial tenterhooks since my short-term ran out in the end of December). Thus the aforementioned sigh of relief. *g* (And I’ll also be seeing my Mom’s doctor in three weeks – the one who helped so much last year – so we’ll see what happens with that re the diagnosis….)

Partially because of this, December and January have been fairly hectic. I’m finally receiving physiotherapy (for the legs as well as the hand and a few other issues), and am taking advantage of the fact that the physio office I go to also has massage therapy available. (Boy, has it done wonders already, and I’ve only just had my third massage….) So things are starting to look up.

Going to Costa Rica in 2 weeks, 2 days (counting down? Who, me? *innocent halo*), for four weeks, so looking forward to that.

Other than that… well, in terms of fic, Saiyuki and my origfic NaNo novel are currently fighting over my brain, and a friend and I are going to be doing a NaNo of two during February (Feb. 1 to Mar. 2), during which I’ll be working on the sequel to Search and Rescue. Luckily during NaNowriMo in November, I reached the point where I could write about 500 words in 20 minutes to half an hour, so I’ll just be writing for a couple of hours each day. (And several during my flight down to Costa Rica! *g*)

(Long Overdue) Update

First of all, I apologize for the long (very long) delay in updating this LJ, not to mention the dearth of updates for several months before the last post. RL took over, in a rather unpleasant fashion, and this was one of the results.

So, a few different updates (long ones!)….

First of all, the major reason behind things:

Health Update: Depression and Nerve Damage (Unable to Walk = No Fun!)

New Family Member (& General Update)

Whoa! Been a while….

First I got distracted, then I got sick, then I got busy (and distracted), and then I ended up with the November blahs. Yeah, it’s been a long few months. (Though the “busy” part was fun – I had one of my best friends over from Scotland for a week, and we had a blast!)

Getting over the blahs now, and I have a wonderful announcement!

I now have a brand new first cousin-once-removed; my cousin Alain and his wife Claudia had Kaleb James one week ago today! The second of the new generation of O’Dea-Judds (actually, that was my place for our generation…) – my niece Zoe – whose first birthday was on the 9th – being the oldest. (Though we Ontario family members only found out about him on Sunday….) I have even more reasons to look forward to my short XMas visit to St. John’s now!

So, welcome to the family, Kaleb!

Back to general update…. While Loui (the aforementioned Scottish friend) was here, she got me hooked on Supernatural. *sigh* So, now I have another new fandom – and another one I’m writing stories for!

Yes, I have two Supernatural stories underway. One will (most likely) be published in Blackfly Presses Chinook Vol. 7 (debuting at MediaWest*Con 2007), and the other will be ‘net published. More details to follow….

Now, I’ve got to catch up on everything from… what? August?! Yeesh! I know what I’m doing this weekend (aside from the CPR/AED refresher course on Saturday…).

Later, all!

Apologies & General Update

Jeez, it’s been over a month since I’ve posted anything! (*checks date of last post*) Yep – a month and a week, in fact. *sighs*

First of all, my apologies – other things have kept me distracted.

First there was finishing my Airwolf story (yes, the one mentioned in the previous two posts) and submitting it to my fellow Blackflies. It’s been accepted, so will definitely be appearing in our zine Horizontal Mosaic: Vol. 12, debuting Sept. 29th. Just waiting for the edits to come back so it gets finalized (while doing my own edits for all the other submissions – we’re popular!).

Then Toronto decided to have a week of tropical – or, at the very least, near-tropical – summer. The humidex that Tuesday reached 47掳C (116.6掳F)! ARGH! Have I mentioned how much I hate Toronto summers? I’m sure I have…. (The good news is that for the past week, the evenings/overnights have been reasonably mild to cool, and since that’s when I work, I’m happy.)

Then, I spent the next week trying to recover from that week – and the week after that recovering from the weekend between them, when I couldn’t get more than 4-5 hours of sleep at a stretch – at most. Fairly unpleasant one, that. At least last weekend was better.

In other words, I haven’t written anything since I finished the Airwolf story (Something to Live For, Stringfellow Hawke/Michael Archangel, by Bardd).

But there was some good news in there.

One of my best friends (Loui, with whom I form the TwinTorment team of Mischief and Mayhem) is coming for a visit in October! Her flights are all booked (let’s just hope some of this mess regarding carry-on baggage gets dealt with before then, given she’s coming from the UK), and we’re starting to make our plans… I am so looking forward to it!

And just before I sign off – I will be posting (finally) Part 4.3 of RuroBatt/Edge of the Blade by tomorrow morning at the latest.

Later, all!

Notes From The Plot Bunny Corral….

*In the middle of a large area enclosed by a wooden fence surmounted by barbed wire, anti-aircraft guns and Super-Size, Industrial Strength Spray Cans of “Bunny-B-Gone”, there is a large pile of fur. A single, solitary human hand is stuck up right in the middle, waving a sign that says, “HELP! It’s a Rabid Plot Bunny Attack!”*

I apologize for not posting anything lately, but… well, see above. I’ve been attacked by a large number of Plot Bunnies, the latest of which (for an Airwolf story for Blackfly Presses‘ “Horizontal Mosaic Vol. 12”) is quite rabid. As in, it only let me get two hours of sleep yesterday (this past afternoon), because the moment I’d get close to the point of drifting off… it would suddenly provide me with another sentence or two for one scene or another.

*tag heaves a sigh and mutters something under her breath about [CENSORED] Rabid Plot Bunnies….*

The Three “H”s

Well, had a wonderful time at MediaWest*Con (will write more about that later – tonight or tomorrow morning), and then arrived home Monday evening.

And boy, what a Monday it was!

We got a call from the husband of one of the Blackflies (the friends I went with) Monday morning (around 8:15 am or so) to say that the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission – the subways & buses) was on a wildcat strike. This was very definitely bad news. Not only do I need the TTC to get to work, but so do a lot of other people; and with them on strike, the traffic around Toronto would be crazy all day. (We were aiming to leave Lansing at noon, and get back to Toronto probably about 8 or 9 Monday night, depending on how long we stopped for lunch.)

Luckily, we found out shortly after we passed the border at Sarnia (which was nice and quick) that the TTC had gone back to work in the afternoon. But people here are not happy.

And then we come to the other part of the problem.

Toronto’s summer has hit. Which means the three “H”s are in effect: Heat, Humidity, and Haze. Yesterday we had a high of about 33掳C (91.5掳F), with a bumidex of close to 39掳C (102.2掳F). Today, the high is due to be 30掳C (86掳F) with a humidex of 40掳C (104掳F). Never, ever let anyone suggest to you that Canadian (particularly southern Canadian) summers are cool.

*sigh* I hate the heat. I get headaches, and a nasty rash on my palms and the inside of my arms (and, if it’s really bad, the inside of my legs) that makes them swell and itch. I hate Toronto summers…. [/rant]

Well, going to see about getting some work done (at last!) on Eye of the Storm and ravenstormfire‘s EFC vignette….

Later!

General & Fic Updates

Well, went and volunteered for the 12-hour Saturday shift this week (partly since I’ll be going to MediaWest*Con 26 next weekend, so off work for three shifts; and partly because we’re still two people short, though we have a new S/O starting next week). So I’m here at work, on the one Canadian long weekend of the school year that the boarders aren’t sent home…. *rolls eyes*

In general, I’ve been having a fairly good month. Starting with my birthday weekend (*g*), and then the fact that I’m managing to get some writing done.

And speaking of that….

I have finally, finally managed to get started on Chp. 5 of RuroBatt/Edge of the Blade – which I’ve been trying to do since… gah! October! In fact, got Part 1 of Chp. 5 written and finished yesterday morning.

Still working on those vignettes for ravenstormfire, merula31, and Anon. (So don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten….)

Getting some more work done on that odd SF RuroKen AU….

And in other news:

My youngest sister’s Commencement (graduation from the Bachelor’s program at Memorial University, St. John’s, NFLD) is on Wednesday. Parents are there, and she flew down (from here) on Friday. One of my cousins has her Commencement the same day, so it works out well.

Only 12 more days until the parents, middle sister and niece Zo毛 come up to T.O. for the week. And that Saturday (two weeks from today) is for Mom & me to spend all on our own… I’m looking forward to that.

*smile*

Later, all!

More Rambles…

Well, there’s another week gone. We now have one more person working with us, so we’re only short one person at work now…

My birthday is in… actually, one week! (Plus 5 hrs. and 40 mins. from the time noted of posting…) My parents will be in town (and my sister is currently in town), so the four of us plus my aunts will be going out to dinner at the Summit Grill (nice, reasonably good/well-priced restaurant that’s close enough to everyone). Then, on Sunday (the 7th) I’ll be getting together with hethos and our group of friends, something that I’m really looking forward to – I haven’t seen most of them since last October, and that’s way too long a time!

The cats are doing well, the family’s doing well (as far as I’m aware) – my brother’s even picked out his house – and I’m feeling reasonably good. (Except I’m ready to shoot my knee – it might make it feel better – but we won’t talk about that.)

Now, I just need to get to work on writing – the beginning of the week wasn’t the best (I got 4 hours of sleep – at most – both Sunday and Monday, so Tuesday I spent pretty much the entire day, between finishing my breakfast at 0815 hrs. and getting dinner around 2140 hrs. sound asleep…), and I haven’t been doing that much since then, either. *sigh* I’m working on it…

And once FFNet lets me log in, I’m going to post the Rurouni Kenshin haiku Wolf and Dragon that I wrote about 8 months ago…

Later, all!

Update: Life, the Universe, and Everything

Well, it’s been a while since my last post here; been rather busy with various things, including visiting my sister and new niece in Halifax (went from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4). I’ll be putting up some pictures in a new gallery – probably this weekend, I expect.

Work is going well, though I must admit I can’t wait until next Thursday (last day of school until the second week of January – Yay!). Having a bit of a problem with strange dizzy spells, but they aren’t really interfering with work and I’m going to see the doctor about them next week.

In terms of writing… well, I haven’t done much. It seems the November blahs waited until after I came back from visiting Sonja and Zo毛 to pop up, and I’ve been pretty apathetic about it since. (It doesn’t help that I’ve been devouring a new fandom’s worth of fics, either…) However, I do plan to get back in the groove either today or tonight at work. And good news for those waiting for new parts to Edge of the Blade/RuroBatt and RuroSen: A Strange Partnership; I plan to post Chp. 2 of the latter by this weekend, and Chp. 3.3 of the former at some point next week.

Plus, I’ve got another new RK fic on the go – this one based (with permission – in fact, she’s beta-reading it for me, as usual) on an idea of Vathara’s. Major AU; it’s an science fiction scenario that has some… interesting elements to it. Including the fact that Sait么 and Kenshin were on the same side in the war they fought… So far, I have the prologue, Chp. 1, and the beginnings of Chp. 2 written. Do people want me to start posting it now, or would you prefer to wait until I’ve got more done?

Other than that, I’ve seen Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and must say that it’s definitely a better quality movie than Prisoner of Azkaban was; while they did cut out scenes from the book, of course (the movie being over 2-1/2 hrs. long as it is), they managed to hit all the important parts. (Unlike PoA, which didn’t even establish the identities of the Marauders or what Sirius did to Snape with respect to Remus! Those are some of the most important parts of the book! Sorry, that just ticks me off, that they left that out…)

And on Thursday, going to see Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe with my adopted aunt. Looking forward to it; that was one of my favourites as a child.

Later, all!

Rambles From Work…

Well, it’s been almost two weeks since my last entry… and a very busy two weeks they have been!

First of all, we got our new supervisor on the 1st. So far, he seems to be quite nice, though he’s currently trying to desperately catch up on training. (And, of course, our IT guys don’t yet have some of the necessary accounts set up for him… *sigh*)

Went to see “The Brothers Grimm” with my Auntie Glo last Friday. It was okay, but no great shakes – not going to be buying it when it comes out of video/DVD, that’s for sure. And I definitely don’t recommend it for anyone who has a phobia about bugs!

Speaking of wildlife (though bigger than bugs!), I had a rather close encounter with a skunk yesterday morning while on my last patrol. I walked out the door to head over to the construction site to make sure the gate was still locked (the school’s building a new athletic centre, and the workers aren’t allowed on until after 6am). I got about fifteen steps away from the door when I heard a rustling sound up ahead, looked up, and saw a skunk (facing me, but with its tail raised) about six feet in front of me, at most.

Luckily, I do know how to deal with wild animals. I carefully (and slowly) backed away from it, until it felt I had gone far enough that it was safe to cross the path I was on to get to the grassy area – via the wooden path through the flowerbeds, as opposed to straight through! – and then waited until it was a certain distance away before I started walking forward again. Boy, was that rather nerve-wracking! It’s certainly the closest I’ve ever come to a skunk while we were both outside. But all’s well that ends well, as they say…

Today hasn’t been too bad so far. Well, generally speaking. My knee’s buggered up again (*heavy sigh*), and I seem to have developed a headache in the last hour or two… but I’ve been writing most of the morning (when I haven’t been on patrols) and I’m rather happy about what I’ve managed to accomplish.

Oh, yeah… guess what Sait么 and Kenshin have done to me now!

Shoved another story idea down my throat, that’s what. And to make things worse, this isn’t just a story – this is a story that has two variations, and they’re making me write both…

Oh well, I’m enjoying it, and that’s the important part.

And one last thing before I say “Goodbye for now”… Expect RuroBatt/Edge of the Blade Chapter 2, Part 4 to be up sometime this afternoon/this evening…

Later!
馃槈 tag0

Coming Soon…

As promised, I will be posting Chapter 2.3 of RuroBatt sometime later today (most likely this afternoon, as I may go to see “Sky High” beforehand). Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to write much more of Chapter 3 this week, because Kenshin and Sait么 came up with a new (weird) idea they decided to try out, probably due to my exhaustion from the unexpected two longer shifts I had this week. And since Vathara likes it, and the two characters are getting a kick out of it, it seems I’ve added another RuroKen story to my “Works-In-Progress” collection… (It also means, unfortunately, that I haven’t got Chp. 1 of Correspondence, the sequel to my Harry Potter HBP story Missives, finished yet.)

The good news is that the rain we had on Wednesday morning managed to cool the temperature (mainly by reducing the humidex) down to a more livable level for Wednesday and yesterday (I was almost shivering while doing my outside patrol yesterday morning! It’s great! *G*), so I’ve even been able to turn off my A/C and open the windows to air out my apartment (and keep the cats happy). Fun, fun, fun! Been quite pleased about that.

Anyway, off to get some more work done… Later, all!

馃槈 tag0

Hello Again, Everyone…

Well, it’s been a while since my last update…

Life is getting back to normal (well, as normal as my life ever gets, that is… *smirk*): Work, write, sleep, go to the occasional movie…

Yep! Been to see a couple of movies over the past week! Last Friday it was “Revenge of the Sith” with Auntie Glo (definitely the best of this SW trilogy), and on Tuesday it was “Batman Begins” with the TorontoFen (AKA the “TorFen”), which was actually quite well done. Certainly better than how a few of us were afraid it would be – and talk about all-star support! Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Rutger Hauer… And the actor playing “Dr. Crane” (can’t remember his name – would have to check) had “creepy” down pat, and whoever did his makeup did an excellent job.

On the writing front… getting more of RuroSen done – I’m onto Chp. 4! Unfortunately, there’s an open question about the characters at the moment that, once I receive an answer, may mean some extensive changes to the beginning, so I won’t be posting any of it until I get that bloody nagging question answered. (Which will hopefully be soon – I’m getting tired of wondering, and Sait么 and Kenshin aren’t talking about it…) Plus, for those of you who enjoy Vathara’s writing and aren’t yet aware of it, she has a new story up (5 out of 6 parts at the moment) – “Blades of Blood”, a RuroKen AU set in the world of “Nightlife” (which is, I believe, a horror RPG game). Fascinating story (and I’m not saying that only because I helped beta it… *g*).

Work… work’s going well enough. I’m going to be doing overtime next week (working until noon Tuesday through Friday – at least, that’s the schedule at the moment – which gives me an additional 4-1/2 hrs. per day, plus the extra statutory holiday pay for Friday, which is Canada Day), so no idea how much writing I’ll get done during that (though it may end up being quite a bit, considering that I’ll be here for a total of 12.5 hrs for 4 days). May even get some more cross-stitching done as well (yes, I’m getting back into my old cross-stitching habit – gives me something to keep my hands busy while I’m thinking of things, usually story plots).

Anyway, should be posting again soon… sooner than two weeks from now, certainly.

Later, all!

Apologies Re: RuroBatt

Sorry I haven’t posted Chp. 2.2 of RuroBatt yet, but the boys have been determined to get more RuroSen done, and RuroBatt hasn’t been touched since last week…

I’m going to try to get more done on it this week, but whether I manage to or not will depend greatly on Saitô and Battôsai’s moods – and like I said, at the moment, they seem more interested in RuroSen

No matter what happens, however, I will post Chp 2.2 by Friday afternoon (EDT).

Later!

FFNet – *sigh*

Well, had to remove “Here is Christmas” from my FFNet account, since it’s a songfic with the lyrics included… Might re-post it later if I find that it can work out without the lyrics.

Thanks for the head’s-up, merula31!

More Fic Details…

Well, I have good news for those who are enjoying RuroBatt – I managed to get Pt. 2 of Chapter 2 finished on Saturday, and got started on Pt. 3 of Chapter 2. If all goes well (*crosses fingers*) I hope to have Chapter 2 done, and Pt. 1 ready for posting, by the end of this week. And I’m told the latest bits feel real, which is excellent…

[Regarding Harry Potter and the Sensitive’s Gift and Eye of the Storm, so that the person who asked about HP&tSG will be assured of having a chance to get the answer, as well as anyone else wondering about either or both of those stories: Neither story has been abandoned, and I do fully intend on finishing them. Unfortunately, the Musae are in command of my ability to transfer creativity to paper (or computer screen), and at the moment, Kenshin and Saitô are holding the rest of them off. I don’t think even Voldie would be willing to face Saitô and Battôsai in a bad mood… Once the two of them ease up a bit, EotS and HP&tSG are definitely priorities. I’m really hoping it will be soon, because I don’t like leaving people hanging so long.]

Now, onward to May 14th, 1878…

Rambling On To My Favourite Topic…

It’s raining today; but despite the cloud cover, it’s not one of those gloomy, broody days… (Or, at least, it’s not for me – don’t know about hethosus and my darling youngest sib daphtpunk.) Instead, it’s one of those lazy days where you sit inside, nice and comfortable, listening to the rain falling outside, and relax.

My knees are feeling much better today (most likely thanks to the application of a coldpack and plenty of rest yesterday) though I still intend to see a doctor about them – don’t want to damage them any more than they are already through genetics…

And now, onto the subject of this ramble…

For the past two weeks with RuroBatt, I’ve been trying to write this conversation in Chapter 2.2. I had a general idea of what I wanted the conversation to be about when I started the scene, but it immediately took a different turn, going straight to the topic I had reserved for the end. So I shrugged and decided to go with it and see what it got me.

Well, what it got me was only being able to write a total of two paragraphs for said scene over the last week, despite being in a writing mood.

So this morning, I sat down with a pot of my favourite “tea to write by” (Twinings Blackcurrant, in case anyone’s curious), and a determination to do a thorough re-write of the scene, this time putting the topics of conversation in the order I wanted them to be in the first place.

Things seem to be going well thus far, although there’s been another slight shift in conversational direction…

Saitô’s being evil at the moment. (*wide evil grin*) Yep, they’re going well.

Later, all!

Writing – Good!

Good news for everyone enjoying my Rurouni Kenshin fics – I’m finally getting some more written! Thanks go to Vathara, who has been very patient waiting for me to send the updates for beta-ing, and whose latest effort (I won’t spoil the surprise – but will rec it as soon as it’s up!) has provided me with the inspiration to get out of the slump I’ve been in and actually get some work done…

Zine Updates Pt. 2…

Well, that’s done! The Blackfly Presses website is completely up-to-date!

(*Loud cheers echo in background from other Blackflies*)

Now, just got to work on getting Kenshin & Sait么 off my back…

Zine Updates…

Well, I’ve finally managed to get the website for Blackfly Presses, the fanfic zine publisher of which I am a part, mostly updated (all prices are right, and that sort of thing). Was thinking that it would take me until tomorrow to get around to it (I’m rather tired at this point), but I ended up pushing all the way through it this morning. *whew!* *wipes forehead*

Now I just need to go through the latest zine status reports to get that info, but it can wait until tomorrow… or maybe the weekend, depending on how much other stuff ends up on my plate. Kenshin and Sait么 are really starting to agitate to get to work on the writing again – they want the second chapter of the other RK story (the one that isn’t RuroBatt) moving forward… not to mention Chp. 2 of RuroBatt itself finished… (They’re just a little more insistent about the other one right now.)

Later, all!

Hello From Costa Rica…

Well, I made it! I am now here in Costa Rica, watching the beginning of a lovely sunset from my parents’ study window, having met the new members of the Goold Zoo v2.3, and greeted the old ones (and got my Scrappy-Cuddles in! He was delighted to see me…).

Won’t be online as often while I’m down here (each call costs, plus time costs), but I will be on every couple of days at the very least.

It’s so lovely and warm here… even Mom & Dad’s place, which is cooler than San Jos茅 (which was actually 20C when I arrived, at 1:15pm local time, not 27C). Just what I need, I think, to de-stress. And I’ve got two weeks of it… *smiles dreamily*

Hoping to get quite a bit of writing done while I’m here. Last time I was in Costa Rica, I wrote quite a bit of HP fic, including the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sensitive’s Gift. This time, I hope to work on RuroBatt, Eye of the Storm, Harry Potter and the Sensitive’s Gift, another RuroKen story that Kenshin and Sait么 have shoved down the connection between my brain and the infamous Plot Bunny Corral, and one of my original stories. But the primary purpose in being here is to enjoy time with my parents, relax, and de-stress, so those have priority.

Later, all!
